Signal, Bridge and Connection Road Project
Previous to this project one section of Vermont was not accessible to the old railroad bridge. An event like the 2003 Derailment, by blocking crossings, caused a possible safety problem. The Villages' contribution to the solution was the closing of 4 at grade crossings. The BNSF and ICC's contribution was new warning lights and gates, a new bridge and a connecting road to the section of town that previously had only crossings.

Old bridge was same design as this one (1890's). You can't see approaching traffic until you reach the crest.
